More about Gary
Most people describe me as approachable. I am a passionate humanitarian who is committed to helping others.
I was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1998 for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, MO. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving the Archdiocese as a parish priest and have provided pastoral counseling services and spiritual direction to many individuals and their families.
In 2013, on the eve of my 15 year anniversary to the priesthood, I published a book, “Hidden Voices, Reflections of a Gay Catholic Priest.” The book reflects on my journey to reconcile the Catholic churches teaching on homosexuality with what I know to be true. The truth is that homosexuality is a gift from God, intended to be lived and expressed in everyday life. I felt compelled to stand in solidarity with those who have been made to feel less than because of who they love.
I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2016 and retired from parish ministry. Today, I am a licensed psychotherapist working and living in NYC.
My experience as a psychotherapist, parish priest, pastoral counselor, and spiritual adviser, has given me a broad range of experience and expertise in assisting individuals in successfully solving complex social, emotional and relational problems.
